OAK HILL YOUTH FIELD HOCKEY REQUIREMENTS PER LEVEL

  • PREK-1- Instructional practice learning basic skills and drills and fundamentals of field hockey. There are not many towns or organizations with this age group so if we can find other teams to play at this level we hope to take advantage of those, but they are not a guarantee.
    • Equipment requirements: Field Hockey Stick, Mouth Guard, Shin Guards, Cleats and Goggles are recommended, but are not required at this level.
    • Jewelry or metal hair clips are not allowed at any time on the field.
    • Players having their hair up so it is out of their face and eyes is recommended.

  • 2-5— Practices are twice per week and consist of skills and drills. Games are on weekends and are based on availability.
    • Equipment requirements: Field Hockey Stick, Mouth Guard, Shin Guards, Cleats and Goggles.
    • Jewelry or metal hair clips are not allowed at any time on the field.
    • Players having their hair up so it is out of their face and eyes is recommended.

  • 5-8 (Middle School)— Practices are generally daily either at Oak Hill Middle School or at Carrie Ricker. Games are four (4) fifteen (15) minute periods or two (2)  twenty-five (25) minute periods and are on weekdays at 3:30 or 4pm. There are no buses available for games, so parental help with carpooling is highly encouraged to transport players to and from games.
    • Equipment requirements: Field Hockey Stick, Mouth Guard, Shin Guards, Cleats and Goggles. Long sleeve Under Armour is not required, but recommended for colder games in either blue or white.
    • Jewelry or metal hair clips are not allowed at any time on the field.
    • Players having their hair up so it is out of their face and eyes is recommended.

Each player is expected to be present for practices and games. If for some reason they cannot attend a practice or a game, they must contact their coach to notify them.

Schedules are posted on the Sabattus Rec website as well as on the SportsEngine app. Please refer to this for your practice and game schedules. Field locations can also be found in the details for each game.

If a player does not have all of the required items, they will not be able to participate in practices or games for safety reasons.

**Mouth guards cannot be red, white or clear**
